Ticket Delivery

What are your options? Let me help you...

Collect your tickets from a Ticket On Departure [TOD] machine

An ever increasing number of stations now have special machines located near the platforms where you can insert your credit card for identification purposes, type in a reference and your tickets will be printed for you.

Pro’s

  • Collection is free
  • Tickets can be collected 2 hours after booking allowing you to depart same day
  • Tickets cannot get lost in the post
  • You cannot misplace the tickets yourself between receipt and arriving at the station

Con’s

  • At peak times there may be a small queue at the machines

More detailed information about our Ticket On Departure service can be found below, just click here.

We can post your tickets

I can post the tickets to an address of your choice. Providing there is enough time before your travel date I can post tickets using First Class post, if you need them quicker you can choose Special Delivery.

Pro’s

  • No queuing at the station as you already have the tickets

Con’s

  • I entrust delivery of our tickets to Royal Mail and while on the whole they do a sterling job, occasionally tickets do go missing in the post
  • It’s also been known for customers to receive the tickets but then misplace them in between receipt and arrival at the station!

Please note that we are unable to post tickets to locations outside the UK. If you are located overseas please choose the Ticket on Departure fulfilment option.

More detailed information about our postal service can be found below, just click here.

Ticket On Departure (TOD)

During the booking process we will let you know if your departure station has a TOD machine and I will default collection from this machine. However, you can use any machine of your choice. You may wish to collect all tickets for several journeys from the machine at your first departure point. This can be especially useful if some of your other departure points do not have TOD machines.

To collect your tickets you will need

  • Credit/debit card used to make the booking
  • 8-digit booking confirmation

For a simple return journey to London the machine may issue up to 8 coupons so please make sure you stay at the machine until all of them have been printed! Coupons will include tickets (one for each way), seat reservations if applicable (one for each way), underground passes if applicable and a collection receipt.

Ferdinand top tip

TOP TIP

The collection receipt is the last coupon to be printed - wait until you have this one, then you know you have all the coupons you need.

Collect your tickets any time before your train leaves (allow two hours after booking online for the tickets to be available).

Please also be aware that, if you plan to collect your tickets very early in the morning or late in the day, the station booking office (where TOD machines are usually located) may be closed, preventing access to the TOD.

If the Ticket on Departure machines are not working, please collect your tickets from the station booking office instead (you will still need the same credit / debit card that you used to make your booking and the 8 digit booking confirmation code). If the station does not have a booking office, or if the booking office is closed, please contact us.

First Class Post

If there is enough time to post your tickets first class (you will need to book five or more working days before your travel date) I will present this as an option during the booking process.

First class post costs £1.00 and your tickets will arrive in an unmarked envelope, together with a copy of your journey itinerary.

If you have not received your tickets after five working days, please contact us.

Please note that I can only deliver tickets to UK addresses (including the Channel Islands and Isle of Man). Delivery to addresses outside the UK is not possible and you should use the Ticket on Departure option instead.

If you are booking high value tickets (greater than £500 in total) then the First Class post option will not be available and delivery will instead be via Royal Mail Special Delivery™ Next Day, which has greater insurance cover than First Class post.

Special Delivery

Royal Mail Special Delivery™ means you will receive your tickets the next day; you only need to book at least two or more working days before travel. I will present this option during the booking process so you know when its available.

Providing you book on a working day before 2 p.m. then your tickets will be delivered* before 1 p.m. the next working day.

Royal Mail Special Delivery™ Next Day costs £6.00 and your tickets will arrive in an unmarked envelope, together with a copy of your journey itinerary.

Please note that I can only deliver tickets to UK addresses (including the Channel Islands and Isle of Man). Delivery to addresses outside the UK is not possible and you should use the Ticket on Departure option instead.

*The Royal Mail Special Delivery™ Next Day service will deliver before 5.30 p.m. for some Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth, Paisley, Kilmarnock, Kirkwall, Hebrides, Shetlands and Guernsey postcodes. For a very small number of islands delivery may take longer.

If you have not received your tickets within the times outlined on the Royal Mail website, please contact takethetrain.co.uk.
